How accurate were the unscientific processes conducted on Narayan Sai Ji?

Day in and out the media has continued to bombard us with biased news that has little credibility and stems basically from unfounded rumours and information released by the police. One should not forget that none of these has been proved in a court of law and whatever little detail of allegations and new updates we have should be taken with a pinch of salt. The reason why we cannot yet take these statements for granted is because of the unproven techniques that have been put to use.

Information that have been released by media post Saiji's grilling

Narayan Saiji was sent to police custody on 6th December, 2013 and he was relentlessly grilled by police. According to sources, he was put under the scanner for 15 to 16 hours at end each day! It will not be lost to you that a person subjected to such arduous process cannot be expected to be in his right frame of mind and hence anything said or done by such an individual is not usually accepted in a court of law. In the last seven days we have heard everything from Narayan SaiJi accepting his crimes to admitting about a love child to saying that he had sexual relationships with 8 other women!

We wonder what else the police wanted to hear from him. International scientists and experts on the matter have opined that subjects readily pick up hints from their interlocutors and answer in order to oblige!

Alison Winter, an expert in the history of modern medicine at the University of Chicago says "So someone who is drugged might make a false statement because he or she is responding to a deliberate or unconscious cue". This must be taken into consideration in case of SaiJi as well. He surely must have been under influence of drug and answering to please rather than anything else!

How narco tests fared in the past in India

Outcomes of Narco analysis tests can be summed up with one word - inconclusive. There are more misses for every success that has happened with the application of narcotics or truth serum or any of the myriad chemical concoction law enforcement officials  use on under-trails. Consider these:

1. 2004: Chhagan Bhujbal quit following allegations that were based on result of a narco test done on fake stamp paper case accused Abdul Karim Telgi. Police could not provide proof against Bhujbal and these allegations were dropped.

2. 2010: Aarushi Talwar Murder Case accused were subjected to these test, outcomes were inconclusive.

3. 2013: Jiah Khan suicide case. criminal lawyer Majeed Memon says, "This should not be encouraged, ... The facts of this case do not justify subjecting the accused to narco-analysis test and is undesirable."

Of course if you looked up hard you will find cases to support use of narcotic tests, but there is very little to encourage the court in accepting it as standalone evidence.

Even Learned Law - Keepers Err

No one is above the law and there have been numerous occasions when law and order has blundered. There is no denying the fact that dispensing justice is not the easiest of task and those in the profession of up-keeping law face a gargantuan task in bringing all to task. But when a big miss comes to light one cannot but stand up and take notice of the matter. With the arrest of AsaramJi Bapu and his son, many are invoking the question - could the law have erred?

In a democratic country, we do posses the right to express our opinions without fear of retribution and clearly no one is in violation of those in question developments since His Holiness AsaramJi Bapu was arrested recently. It is noteworthy that there have been lapses here too, but thankfully remedial action has since been taken. It is not lost to public cognizance that prosecutors gunning against Narayan Sai moved the court and obtained a non-bailable arrest warrant which was later absolved by the court considering the fact that an NBW may not be issued to arrest any person, hence all these time Narayan Sai was falsely labelled an absconder. It is quite ridiculous that a section of the press has taken this and blown it out of proportion to such an extent that the general population began taking this falsity for granted. Thankfully, the recent court stand comes as a welcome breather for BapuJi and his family from the continuous onslaught of propaganda spread by detractors of the spiritual leader.

What we are hinting at is the possibility of more blunders by the court and the law. Given the highly motivated and powerful detractors of BapuJi, one cannot completely rule out deeper conspiracies and conspirators at play here. Sant AsaramJi Bapu has been hinting at the possibility of a conspiracy and given his impressive track record of speaking out against powerful and corrupt politicians, he definitely has some very irate and resourceful enemies. When Congress faced a defeating blow in the recent assembly elections, BapuJi commented that the truth will prevail and it has only begun.

If famous dignitaries like Kanchi seers can stay shrouded in clouds of doubt for 9 long years, we would not be surprised if law takes equally long to come out with the truth.

Skewed Media Trials On Spiritual Gurus In India

There seems no end to how trivial and farcical some people can get just for the sake of proving points that are utterly baseless or based on the media that in our nation has never been known to be impartial or honest. For reasons best known to media houses they pick their favourite targets and go a mindless rampage stamping on everything that comes their way making a lot of money at the expense of the public who cannot decide the truth when they are bombarded by barrage of lies and skewed sentences and entirely rubbish rumours. The truth is - THE COURT HAS NOT TAKEN ITS COURSE YET!

Take a moment and think when Sankaracharya of Kanchipuram was implicated in a criminal case that he had allegedly masterminded the murder of the manager of the mutt. The truth took long to come to light, but when it did everyone was glad that truth had finally won. Back then media trials were not so uncontrolled, nevertheless there were serious allegations and the media played its part in maligning two innocent religious leaders of our country. Then again, in very recent memory we have the case of Yoga Guru Ramdev who mistreated by police and later dragged into false accusations because of crime that were supposedly committed by his sibling. One cannot find a better case of misuse of media power.

Similar unfortunate incidents are unfolding before our very eyes and this time media's involvement is quiet aggressive and that has already made it quite difficult for the masses in general to get to the core of the matter and seek the truth. One cannot be expected to see the truth when so many versions and untrue interpretations are making the rounds everywhere.

Question Mark on the Credibility of Accuser of Narayan Sai

Less than a month ago, Satish Wadhwani, the driver, cook and body-guard of Sant Asaramji Bapu's son Narayan Sai brought allegations against his employer that were of similar nature as those level against the saint Asaramji Bapu. 37 years old Wadhwani was picked up by Indore police following a complaint by a woman who claims Wadhwani molested her. This case of violation of decency is crucial to the case pending against Narayan Sai because Satish Wadhawani, the complainant in this case is himself under the scanner after questions have been raised against his moral forthrightness.

Satish Wadhwani - The accuser who became the accused

Not much is known about Satish Wadhwani. It is said that he was in employment of Narayan Sai from 1994 to 2011 and currently works as a broker for betel trade products in the Siyaganj Mandi in Indore, MP. He is a resident of Manik Bagh locality in Indore.

This person shot into limelight thanks to indiscreet attention bestowed to him despite his less than upright credentials. He alleged that Narayan Sai was running money lending and sex rackets from his Khandwa Road ashram.

Turn of events

In less than a month since allegations were raised against the son of Asaramji Bapu, the accuser was nabbed by Indore police and grilled on charges of molestation and sexual assault on a woman.

The question we need to be asking ourself post this turn of events is should the media have given so much weight to the accusations of a person who cannot be credited with a clean moral, let alone compare his work with the selfless service and humanitarian tasks accomplished by Narayan Sai or the saint Asharamji Bapu.

It is rather scary to realize the fact that the media has lost its discrimination in conducting impromptu trials of leading spiritual saints and leaders of our nation. This trial by media should be shunned and brought to end because it encourages fame-hungry crowds to sling mud on dignitaries and leaders for a few minutes in lime light.

Has the media become tool for everyone to use to attain cheap fame? Why was the credibility of the source not ascertained before portraying him as an upright whistle blower? Will the media apologize for the irreparable damage it has brought upon the good name of the saint and his followers? This remains unanswered.
