Heights Of Yellow Journalism – More Protests And Outcry Marks The Awakening Of The Masses

Outcry for justice and release of His Holiness AsaramJi Bapu is now reaching a fever pitch with new protesters and petitioners making their presence felt like never before. This springs from the transgression committed by media in not just raising derogatory questions against BapuJi but also causing pain and emotional upheaval among supporters of Kind AsaramJi Bapu. In response to the umpteen atrocities brought about by the media on BapuJi, people from all walk of lives have taken the responsibility of clearing The Saints name of all baseless blemishes on his good name.

Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu

The trend of raising a strong voice for justice begun with supporters initializing a mass protest on Twitter in December, 2013 and then again in January, 2104. Both had one goal in common and that was a sense of urgency in the demand for justice. Just when it felt like nobody cared about justice or truth in this nation, these protests on Twitter came along and changed a lot of things. For starters this was a wake-up call for the bastion who thought they could take everybody for a ride with their biased representation of the saint, secondly this reignited the lamp of hope in every supporter's heart that was blown out by false accusations, and lastly it instilled the necessity for struggle among million of BapuJi disciples. Thanks to the path shown by a few, several more hitting social media websites everyday and one of those instances is the recent incidence that has emerged on Change.Org. With close to 8,000 people already aligning their views with that of their Twitter counterparts, the time has come that media houses completely shun their abject practice of yellow journalism for truth, equality and justice.

With the public showing such interest in the case of false representation of a saint, it’s high time that the necessary change be allowed to unfold.

End of Coloured perception marks beginning of new era for Indian media

We Indians have gotten so used to propaganda being spread in public that in many cases we just take things for granted and move on with our lives. Without anyone or anything to confront these views of the media, the trend became so humdrum that some media outlets misused public trust by dishing out anything from twisted facts to blatant misinformation just to make their news saleable. This complete disregard for truth went as far as to obstruct the delivery of justice and forced the path of justice.

One of the many remarkable incidences of media insensitivity was seen in recent days. Ever since the arrest of AsaramJi Bapu not a single day has passed when the media did not present something derogatory about the Saint. There were incidences when we have seen news channels and news dailies publish utter rubbish on a daily basis. On many occasions media channels were rebuked for losing sight of their goal, but eventually the trend would be repeated all over again. Millions of ardent followers and disciples of the Bapu lodged reports with the administration and made their ire evident but nothing came of it until recently.

In December, 2013, for the first time media reported news of a wave of support on Twitter and then again in January when even a bigger wave erupted that forced all media channels to stand up and take notice. More than 4 different media houses took notice of this phenomenon and reported how irked BapuJi disciples were with the injustice meted out to him. This marked a new beginning for Indian media and has lighted a lamp of hope for millions of supporters who had lost their trust in media.

Finally, Its Time That Justice Prevailed

Social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook are mirrors to our society and what happens on these popular platforms are quite likely to be a good indication of what and how people perceive events around them. In recent times there has been many that has caught the imagination of the smartphone-generation, giving them enough reasons to voice their opinions.

In India, we have had too many things to worry about, but one of the most pressing of all issues was the ill treatment meted out to our beloved AsaramJi Bapu. What cannot be described as anything but a conspiracy, some women brought rape allegations on the saintly Holyman and spread hateful disinformation which eventually led to his arrest. In the last several months that he has been in jail, prosecution has failed to prove their case but on the outside, media personnels have literally launched dastardly attacks on everybody related to him including his wife, son and daughter.

The entire nation stood witness to that for quite long  but when they saw it was all a subversive tactic by political powers to use BapuJi against their political rivals. Gradually, but assuredly people began trusting in the innocence of the holy Saint and began supporting him whole heartedly.

In December last year, Twitter erupted with voices of the supporters who recognized the need to be vocal about their protests. Previously, similar protests had gone up in several parts of Gurgaon and Noida in order to lean on decision makers to work hastily in order to bring the curtain down on what was being done against one of the most pious and kind hearted man our nation has seen in ages. On January 6th, 2014, national newspapers reported similar movements regarding support for AsaramJi Bapu. It must be noted that the support seen in this second wave was much more potent than  the first wave and proved that more and more people are beginning to question the propriety of the case and leaning in favour of seeing kind AsaramJi Bapu free.

Moving Powers Against Hindu-Drohi Media

Our democracy is a great country which has always treated all its citizens with equality and ensured equal rights for all. There has been very few incidents that can be treated as exception to this, but when that happens, history has recorded reactions that forced oppressors to rectify their mistakes and mend their ways.

The current situation regarding AsaramJi Bapu is no exception. In the last few months there has been attack after attack in Hindu saint for no fault and on top of that the media has brought about untold harm by dishing out lopsided false information.

With the exception of a few, there has been close to no voice seeking the truth until now. In what appears to be unprecedented, thousands of Sadhaks used Twitter to lodge a strong protest against paid media and biased law enforcement forces that have dealt several blows 'under the belt'. This incident happened in such a large scale that media houses tool notice of it reported about it.

In another closely related incident, protesters gathered around the District Commissioner's office and presented a memorandum requesting the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to action against these media channels and bring culprits to book.

Meanwhile, we must remember to be cautious about believing in news articles presented in media. Some powers with vested interests are at play and they have very good reasons to see our beloved BapuJi behind bars. In protest against those, let us decide not to watch such news channels and logde strong protests through social media channels like Twitter and Facebook.

What action has been taken against unbiased news channels - The nation needs answers

How media and law has handled AsaramJi Bapu case is now known to all, there are no secrets as to how news channels painted BapuJi in the wrong hue and made a villain out of an upright saintly person driven completely by ulterior motives. Millions of Bapu's disciples were shocked and awed at this but what even more abhorring was how these media channels branded an innocent family as sex racket operators and showed a minor as a victim of sexual exploitation. This disgusting sacrifice of moral ethics on the altar of money was too much and the pain it caused to the innocent Sadhak family was harrowing.

What was the truth?

On 2nd July, 2013, Sant Shree AsaramJi Bapu arrived at the household of the complainant for Pag Phera ceremony and blessed his family which included the complainant's wife and his 10 year old niece. It must be noted that the media channels targeted these two females specifically by accusing the wife of running a sex racket and saying that the niece was a victim of BapuJi.

The family had to take action, it approached police and lodged a complaint against News 24 at the Palam Vihar police station but nothing came of it. Protests were carried out for 3 days from 14th Dec to 16 Dec, yet the police did nothing at all.

The complaint was completely cold shouldered and nothing came of it. Following this set back, the media victimized family formally decided to lodge an FIR at the same police station. This time two additional channels were brought under the purview of the FIR taking the total to three which now included News Nation, India TV and News 24. The charges that were invoked against these channels are: IPC 469, 471, 120B, 671 IT Act and 13(C) POCSO. It has been three days since and we are yet to see any positive outcome. Will the media or the law enforcement come up with an explanation as to why nothing has been done to nab the people named in the said FIR of 16th December, 2013?

Justice for Param Pujya Sant Asaram ji Bapu

We have seen in the last few months we have seen the media and police don the role of a vigilante and singe BapuJi in false rape cases that were brought about on him on the instigation of detractors of the Bapu. It must be noted that at that time thousands rose in protest of crimes that were forced on him. The incident was taken up by the media and twisted out of context to gain personal leverage and get TRPs. The allegations that were brought against him were blown out of proportion and the biased media did more harm to the issue than facilitate carriage of justice.

What is even more painful is the fact that recently a few news channels have pulled an innocent sadhak family into the quagmire of sexual crimes and threw mud at women in the family by hinting that they were actively involved in sex crimes on behest of BapuJi. News Nation, India TV and News 24 are guilty of besmirching a Sadhak's family with utter disregard for their right to privacy and violating the right of a child. This was carried on over for a period of 3 days from 14th December to 16th December, 2013. Outraged by this the family approached police and lodged a complaint invoking 13(C) POCSO against News 24. Unfortunately that failed to yield any result. Following that up the family decided to lodge an FIR at Palam Vihar Police Station on 16 December, 2013. Keeping in mind the gravity of the situation, the family brought the other two TV channels to book with a formal FIR.

The media victimized family made an emotional appeal to the public who rose against perpetrators in the Damini case to rise again and demand justice for his minor niece who was falsely dragged into an unnecessary tussle created by the media with complete disregard for her rights. The time is also right for the people of this nation to rise in unison against schemers and anti-nationalist sentiments against Hindu saints.

IPS Officer names Mukhesh Ambani's son Akash Ambani in hit and run case, media and police not doing enough

In the multi crore rupee wreckage that took place in Mumbai on the night of December 8th, 2103, the police are treading very cautiously in its investigation.By reports in some newspapers the police do not want to hush up the matter or make false arrests but going by the public's reaction, police and the media are just beating around the bush because a very high profile individual is involved.

IPS officer YP Singh has clearly indicated that the driver of the ill-fated car was none other than son of Mukesh Ambani, Akash Ambani. Even Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed his surprise at the way police and media are handling the case, he says, " It seems the only people who don’t know who was driving the fancy Aston Martin are the Mumbai police"!

This is not the first time media and police actions have fallen short of the expectations of the public, there will be countless cases if we go digging the past, but the recent trend of people losing its faith on the impartiality of media and actions of police is worrying. In this case, people and media are thought to be hand in glove trying to  protect the son of a big national figure who is known to have very strong connections with political parties of the country. The media has gone mum on covering this news much less conduct their infamous sting operations like they did in case of saint AsaramJi Bapu.

In BapuJi's case news channels and media houses have conducted countless sting operations and spread defamatory news in more than one occasion. Instead of finding out the truth, it has blatantly ignored human rights and violated the right to privacy in more than one instance. Recently the NBSA has taken offense to how India TV presented BapuJi's Holi celebrations in Maharastra. Given such bias in its presentations,  the media has not only failed in its basic duty to present un-opinionated news, it has also lost public's trust.
