Heights Of Yellow Journalism – More Protests And Outcry Marks The Awakening Of The Masses

Outcry for justice and release of His Holiness AsaramJi Bapu is now reaching a fever pitch with new protesters and petitioners making their presence felt like never before. This springs from the transgression committed by media in not just raising derogatory questions against BapuJi but also causing pain and emotional upheaval among supporters of Kind AsaramJi Bapu. In response to the umpteen atrocities brought about by the media on BapuJi, people from all walk of lives have taken the responsibility of clearing The Saints name of all baseless blemishes on his good name.

Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu

The trend of raising a strong voice for justice begun with supporters initializing a mass protest on Twitter in December, 2013 and then again in January, 2104. Both had one goal in common and that was a sense of urgency in the demand for justice. Just when it felt like nobody cared about justice or truth in this nation, these protests on Twitter came along and changed a lot of things. For starters this was a wake-up call for the bastion who thought they could take everybody for a ride with their biased representation of the saint, secondly this reignited the lamp of hope in every supporter's heart that was blown out by false accusations, and lastly it instilled the necessity for struggle among million of BapuJi disciples. Thanks to the path shown by a few, several more hitting social media websites everyday and one of those instances is the recent incidence that has emerged on Change.Org. With close to 8,000 people already aligning their views with that of their Twitter counterparts, the time has come that media houses completely shun their abject practice of yellow journalism for truth, equality and justice.

With the public showing such interest in the case of false representation of a saint, it’s high time that the necessary change be allowed to unfold.

End of Coloured perception marks beginning of new era for Indian media

We Indians have gotten so used to propaganda being spread in public that in many cases we just take things for granted and move on with our lives. Without anyone or anything to confront these views of the media, the trend became so humdrum that some media outlets misused public trust by dishing out anything from twisted facts to blatant misinformation just to make their news saleable. This complete disregard for truth went as far as to obstruct the delivery of justice and forced the path of justice.

One of the many remarkable incidences of media insensitivity was seen in recent days. Ever since the arrest of AsaramJi Bapu not a single day has passed when the media did not present something derogatory about the Saint. There were incidences when we have seen news channels and news dailies publish utter rubbish on a daily basis. On many occasions media channels were rebuked for losing sight of their goal, but eventually the trend would be repeated all over again. Millions of ardent followers and disciples of the Bapu lodged reports with the administration and made their ire evident but nothing came of it until recently.

In December, 2013, for the first time media reported news of a wave of support on Twitter and then again in January when even a bigger wave erupted that forced all media channels to stand up and take notice. More than 4 different media houses took notice of this phenomenon and reported how irked BapuJi disciples were with the injustice meted out to him. This marked a new beginning for Indian media and has lighted a lamp of hope for millions of supporters who had lost their trust in media.

What action has been taken against unbiased news channels - The nation needs answers

How media and law has handled AsaramJi Bapu case is now known to all, there are no secrets as to how news channels painted BapuJi in the wrong hue and made a villain out of an upright saintly person driven completely by ulterior motives. Millions of Bapu's disciples were shocked and awed at this but what even more abhorring was how these media channels branded an innocent family as sex racket operators and showed a minor as a victim of sexual exploitation. This disgusting sacrifice of moral ethics on the altar of money was too much and the pain it caused to the innocent Sadhak family was harrowing.

What was the truth?

On 2nd July, 2013, Sant Shree AsaramJi Bapu arrived at the household of the complainant for Pag Phera ceremony and blessed his family which included the complainant's wife and his 10 year old niece. It must be noted that the media channels targeted these two females specifically by accusing the wife of running a sex racket and saying that the niece was a victim of BapuJi.

The family had to take action, it approached police and lodged a complaint against News 24 at the Palam Vihar police station but nothing came of it. Protests were carried out for 3 days from 14th Dec to 16 Dec, yet the police did nothing at all.

The complaint was completely cold shouldered and nothing came of it. Following this set back, the media victimized family formally decided to lodge an FIR at the same police station. This time two additional channels were brought under the purview of the FIR taking the total to three which now included News Nation, India TV and News 24. The charges that were invoked against these channels are: IPC 469, 471, 120B, 671 IT Act and 13(C) POCSO. It has been three days since and we are yet to see any positive outcome. Will the media or the law enforcement come up with an explanation as to why nothing has been done to nab the people named in the said FIR of 16th December, 2013?
